They didn’t yet but I got the impression that this email was looking to see who would be interested in ordering one now (and paying) knowing that they will (potentially) ship at the end of May.
Needs to be updated!

The email does say that's it's only to register interest though...

Wooo, swanky new forum!! :D :D (sorry, easily amused!!)

Yes, as Chris stated, it is only to register an interest. So I'm guessing it's so they know a rough production number to work towards for the end of May.

Has anyone seen Mercury? Know how it compares to Jupiter that we saw?
Im curious if its the same size/shape or if it looks the same.

Trying to gauge initial demand for a new product seems to be a step in the right direction. Certainly better than the old business model.

Yes but we have no details on the actual product. The only one we saw was Jupiter.

I agree that it would be nice to see if the various R2's look different from each other. OTOH, just hom much different could they be?

They are likely to all be the same size and weight. They will all have a disc you can spin and a lever on the side. The Jupiter has a full array of what seem to be buttons, aka moons, on one face. They're all supposed to open on completion of the puzzle.

What could be different? Color is one possibility. Certainly color was the only difference seen in the R1 extreme series. Other than that, the number of "moons" may be different. Whether they make shells with different numbers of holes or plug them or use dummy "moons" is still unknown.

I'd guess that one R2 will look very much like any other R2.

Inside, that's a different story.

I understand trying to gauge demand, but didn't that already happen when we signed up for the Voyager series membership? Or am I missing something. Either way I'm in, but I'm rather confused at the moment.

The Voyager Status was just limiting who wanted serial numbers and therefore reducing the production costs (engraving serial numbers costs!).
