I sent a pm to Sophie for you guys and things are moving along. Here is her response.

"The first 20 are currently at the anodizers Chris took them last week and we will both be going on Friday to retrieve them, If Chris doesn't feel its too much of a spoiler then I hope to take some photos and post them on the Mercury area of the forum."

As this is a new process I think we need to be a patient a bit longer for the first release but I think the consecutive puzzles will go alot faster due to having all the "bugs" worked out of the processing.

Anodizers sounds good. I wonder if the R2's also require any significant plating.

The spoiler image looks like the whole maze is anodized.

That may bode well since the plating quality issues were a problem on some of the R1s.

As mentioned Chris took a trip to the anodizers on Friday to retrieve the backs of the first 20 puzzles which have been anodized a matt black.
