I believe there were 54 people in the lottery at the beginning, so that'll make 51 now.

17.5% of those who survived the last round dropped out this time around... ! Most people scraped through, matching only 1 number.

Although I'm sure most people will already know whether they're in or out, confirmation emails will go out on Monday :)

For 17.5% to result in a whole number, there must have been 40 people in the last round. That leaves 33 in the competition.

That would mean there were 62 or 63 people at the start of this lottery. Using these numbers the 36% doesn't work out exactly with whole numbers, unless Chris has difficulty rounding numbers.

The numbers work out pretty well if you start with 53 or 45 or 44 or 36 people at the start of this lottery. Unfortunately 51 doesn't work that well.

If 53, then 28 left
If 45, then 24 left
If 44, then 23 left
If 36, then 19 left

I remember looking at who was interested enough in the purple to write a post when the idea of a lottery was disclosed. I think there were ~ 45 people that were sure to be in the lottery. The least likely scenario would be 36 starting with 19 left. I guess there could have been 60+ people in this lottery, but that means a lot of lurkers entered the lottery.

63, 61 and 55 come close too.

Both percentages were rounded. I'm glad its generated some interest/curiosity.
The total number of people who started in round 1 is greater than anyone has guessed so far. There are quite a few lurkers and names I don't recognise at all. Having said that, there's quite a few people who haven't entered who could have had quite a few numbers!
The number of people eliminated in the last round was in double digits.
