While I'm glad (I think) I get a bit of a chance at a Purple, I understand where the veterans are coming from. However I've noticed a lot of changes in the past year or so, including something I'm amazed, like really really really amazed, I haven't seen mentioned anywhere, so a plan change like this isn't really surprising. That being said, with changes like that, I almost wonder why they don't reproduce some of the more popular limited ones, as it'd bring in some income and while still possibly irritating a few people, possibly not as much as this? I don't know.

Who knows, maybe they'll change the format to only include those that would have qualified for the live event. Stranger things have happened.

While the Purple was to be solved in one sitting due to it being a live event, now Chris can make it as difficult as he wants. Good luck opening them.

For me, I'll be quite happy if I get my CE set. In the meantime I'll send in my info to Joe. I could use another paperweight.

my thoughts are pretty much the same as pcad, happy that my CE set will be coming soon and will enter the purple competition if I can, my name is on the leader board albeit not qualified for the live event!

There was a set of rules very similar to the original rule on the new website as recently as 1/14/13. It could only be found by using the sitemap. The main difference was that the cash prizes were not mentioned. The old leader boards were there too, but I haven't checked to see if they're still there yet.
