Angel Box by Wil Strijbos

Post by guiltyjoe »

Years ago I seemed to have gotten incredibly lucky. I found out about the Angel Box and somehow got Wil's email. He responded and I purchased #93 of 99.

It is by far my favorite puzzle that I own. It truly is a work of art.

I just wanted to know how many of you have one. If so, what do you think about yours? The solve, the quality, etc.? I am very curious.

Recently I was offered $1200, then $1300 for it. Eventually I was offered a crazy price. I did not sell it. I felt like, if I sold it then that would be it forever. It's not about the money. I know that makes me lucky.

I'd be glad to post pics of it or a solve if interested.

Looking to play with one someday, now out of my range sadly

I feel the same way about my sd puzzles. Could sell but some are irreplaceable...

I dont own it, with time it get the reputation of being one of the best puzzle ever, I don't know how much it is still true or false today as for example the Slammed Car by Juno or Jack-In-The-Box by Krijnen were amazing ones lately.
Strijbos made a very few limited edition puzzle and this one is the most noticeable, lucky you to have one!

"limited edition"

I *believe* Wil actually made another batch of Pachinko after his original 100 "limited edition" ones sold. Good for us, not so great for people who bought it with the exclusivity they thought was baked into the high price...

I'd like to see where it was labeled as limited

None of the original said out of 100, just numbered. I have one above 100

My reasoning is he can make up to 999 with 3 the digit numbering he chose

Was that in writing somewhere from him?

Well, here's one mention: https://www.puzzlemad.co.uk/2016/06/pac ... overy.html

Not from Wil, but from a long-term reviewer whom I would usually trust to get it right...

Well they still are limited edition numbered puzzles. I don't see where it was limited to 100 though was my point.
Even cubic releases in limited 'numbered batches' but they reserve the right to produce more
Unless it is a set of XXX/XXX like the angel box. Usually producers do that and stick with it.

I would argue that xxx/xxx also doesn't restrict more from being made. Maybe it was 56/100 of that batch. Maybe next batch will be xxx/200. Then xxx/300. I believe the first batches of the aluminum cylinder were done this way. Then he moved to the V and signature. Unless the craftsman specifically says no more will be made I'd always assume it's a possibility. Case in point being the mini Revos who alot on this forum assumed wouldn't be remade. Or the mislabeled LE revos.
SET SERIAL #7021

CLOSED: COPPER - GUNMETAL - ORANGE - INDIGO - SILVER - HANDMADE
