Anyone try out any of his 3 puzzles yet? I decided to give them a try and they are on their way. Jigsaw Puzzle 29 has been well received and won honorable mention at IPP39. Definitely unconventional (or more of a conventional puzzle? ) but cheap enough to try out.

Have all three here.
Solved Wave 7 in about 1-2h and Jigsaw 19 in about 45 Min (but got lucky with the first pieces).
My girlfriend is a jigsaw fan and solved 1000 piece Jigsaws in 3-5h regularly, she doesn't like them that much, because her parts don't fit the tray

I'm still at Jigsaw 29

Doc81, where did you get the puzzles from? I was able to order the 29 piece puzzle from puzzle master (and they also had the wave), but for the 19 piece puzzle, I had to order directly from Yuu. Can't share an opinion yet since none have arrived :-)

Nice to hear Crypton...was hoping the Wave 7 and Jigsaw 19 were a bit easier for others to try out and that the 29 would be challenging for myself. My wife also enjoys jigsaws so I was hoping she would enjoy these and get a taste of my new hobby. Maybe she will open up my budget a bit too.

Balsam I ordered them directly from Yuu via facebook. I considered puzzlemaster but they didn't have the 19 and the Wave was more expensive on there. If I just wanted the 29 I would have gone through puzzlemaster with other orders for free shipping. Please share your thoughts when you try them out!

Solved Jigsaw 29 today. All in all between two and three hours.
Loved every single piece of it!

I would recommend:
29, 19 then 7 (as they were released).
That way you get the maximum Aha-moment for 29.
19 and 7 are simpler and reuse (19) most of the ideas introduced in 29.
I did them in the reverse order and have to say that they are easier that way, because you're introduced to the ideas one by one, but the Aha-moments are smaller and distributed over all three puzzles.

here you have the reviews of all the 3 asaka puzzles:

wave is very difficult even if you have only 7 pieces
Start with jigsaw 19, it gives the basics to learn.

Enjoy!

Interesting recommendation Crypton. I can definitely see your side but I can also see wanting to spread the AH HA moments out in all 3 puzzles. Doing 29 first would surely make it an even better experience but then the other 2 may be way too easy. Not sure how I will do them yet although I'm leaning towards doing Wave 7 first.

All three are superb!

I have 29&19 and look forward to adding wave. It’s a nice little thing and although it didn’t take long I notice from chatting to others that most of us took a similar route and then slowed briefly before the final aha!

Wave 7 is a little out there. You can start with that, but 19 has taken me about 10-15 min (with some luck finding several fitting pieces early on). 29 truely is awesome and clever.

I just received '29' from PuzzleMaster this afternoon. It was my first of the Yuu Asaka puzzles (I have order '19' directly from Yuu, but haven't received it yet).

Physically, the puzzle is very high quality and visually very appealing. The solution is very clever and took me about 1.5 hours to figure out, which means it wasn't totally trivial, but probably not as hard as I expected. Luck may have played a role, but I feel like there is at least one way to solve it without a lot of cleverness or big "aha" moments.

I mentioned before that there can be subtle spoilers in the revomaze forums, and I think it's the same for puzzle review blogs. I read about '29' in puzzlemad's blog, and although he was pretty careful not to post spoilers, I feel like just the general description he had might have steered me (a bit) in the right direction. It's hard to avoid, since one of the main ways to learn about puzzles is to read these blogs.

Bottom line- HIGHLY recommend this puzzle. It's one of the cleverest things I've seen in a while, although I wouldn't say it's as hard as some have written. Assuming '19' is similar but easier, I would jump straight to this one and go back to '19' if you find this one too hard.
