The Delrin on that one is in a far better state than it is on mine. I really need to think about dying mine to see if I can get it from grey back to black, but I bid on one when it came up on the off chance I didn't see one again.

Why are these puzzles so valuable? I mean, they're nice, but rather simple. I can't imagine spending ~$400 for one.

Charles O Perry is known for his sculptures primarily, these puzzles are simple it's true. Their simplicity is their beauty.
