You'll be surprised! No complicated parts but very "elegant mechanism" (to borrow the phrase from another puzzler) and it has stumped even very experienced puzzlers, some of whom are forum members here.

ok , it was enough to convince me:

AFAIK they are no longer being made. Last year Brian found some leftover tubing and made the last batch. I would guess you will only see them sold privately now. Just last week one sold at auction for $150. Quite the jump from $40.

i like the well so far. i found some neat looking tools and now i have to find the next step. i had some problems with one tool since it required some force to get (i think well solvers will know what i mean ), and also im able to do something cool but without using an "elegant" method.

Just opened my Plugged Well with the help of pliers.
The last part was swelled up and wouldn't budge by
hand. Another internal part wouldn't return to the
normal position because of swelled wood. For a
fairly expensive puzzle, it was disappointing that it
didn't work smoothly. At least no broken parts.

Don't tell me the plugged well got wet !?!

You should have emailed Brian. He helped me fix mine that was stuck due to the wood shrinking.
