Inside3 Cubes

Post by TheWaddler »

I found out about these from someone on Facebook (possibly Ali?!) a while back and just wondered if anyone else has seen them. Here's their website:

http://www.insidezecube.com/en/

And they are asking for funding on Ulule, here:

http://www.ulule.com/insidezecube/

which has already surpassed it's goal and still has 24 days left. Therefore I was wondering what people think and if anyone else has donated. I was thinking of donating now I know they'll definitely be made ;)

I was gunna get the "Full Pack: 6 cubes + 3 stickers and your name in the INSIDE3 Hall of Fame. Shipping included." for $114. Sounds reasonable.

Seems kind of fun. The fact that the maze is engraved on the outside defeats some of the purpose. You can solve the whole thing by looking at it and not even rolling the ball around. Also I enjoy collecting sets, and its a little overwhelming that the whole set is 216 cubes. Pretty sure that after the first 6 I would be bored. Great design and idea though, im sure they will do well if the price point is right.

nope that's pretty much it.

Here's a little more info on it, quoted from the Ulule page:
Inside3 is a 3D labyrinth which is played blind.

It’s a new game presented in the form of a cube. The cube holds a marble that is alternatively visible on the top or bottom face, depending on what stage of the game you are at.

On each of these two faces, the player finds a map indicating the course that needs to be taken in order to direct the marble towards its destination. The map is composed of 7 plots representing the successive layers that must be crossed.

Yep, you guessed it; the INSIDE 3 cube is not just great to look at, it is equally difficult to solve.
According to the level of difficulty chosen (see the range below), you will have to avoid the traps, take
a path backwards and swirl the cube around to retrieve the marble……

Play is simple, just loosen the marble with a finger and watch it fall into the darkness. What follows is a combination of logic and sensory perception by listening and feeling for the movement of the ball.

The idea for INSIDE 3 is the fruit of a slow maturing process. It was inspired by many references, among which are the Moria grottos, Alien, the Descent, House of Leaves,Theseus, Attack of the Black Star, Cube, Portal, Dungeons and Dragons, Hellraiser, the Raiders of the lost Ark, Journey to the centre of the Earth…
... and a pic explaining the difficulty levels:

That's true Rdroege but once the ball is in the maze you have no real way of telling where it is, even with the maps. Plus on the hardest one, there are no maps and it can't be taken apart to retrieve the ball (as it states above) ;)

Inside3

Post by romain-guirec »

Hi all!
I'm Romain-Guirec, the INSIDE3 designer.
Thank you to you to create a topic on my project on this site (I just discovered revomaze a few weeks ago, it's incredible).
Concerning the number of cubes (including the mothercube), the idea is to create a community that could exchange cubes in order to play with all the cubes without having to buy each.
And we also are almost sure that with the second saison, difficulty will increase. We assume that the diameter of the marble will be reduced to be able to create a more complex maze.
We will also add specific traps such as magnet or other funny things :)
If you have ideas please send it to me, the project is brand new and we are very open!

I don't know if I missed it or can't find it on the cube's site, but can someone tell me what is the cube made of?

From my understanding it is that plastic material that 3D printers use.

I like this idea, each season the ball goes down, making the "inside cube" go from a 6x6x6 to a 7x7x7, 8x8x8, etc and so forth, ending with a bb sized ball and a 12x12x12 maze.

That would definitely keep me interested.

@Rdroege: fine idea!!!!! next saison the cube will be 7x7x7! and so on. It's a perfect idea.

The cube for the moment is made by 3D printing but we start the production of the definitiv object in plastic (injection).

Thank you all for interest to the cube.
