I see a theme here ... Not only sequential discovery, but also a really novel mechanism to be discovered each time! O I am so much looking forward to Brians next puzzle...

sounds like i may have to pick up some of those then. i do like sequential discoveries but im no good at them this First Box is taking me ages

That's normally the sign of a good puzzle! Plus there's that great sense of accomplishment once you finally work it out, which is always better if you've struggled a bit with the puzzle first.
