I cannot figure out the first step haha so so far I think it is a hard puzzle.

I feel you
I have to admit that I looked up the first step after an hour of fiddling :o
And I'm not sure how much longer I would have needed. Although if you know it, it's super simple

I will never look at the solution. It must take its time and it will feel more rewarding when finally (hopefully this will happen one day) open the lock.

I have at least found something that I can repeat now but I don't know if this is the first step or not. It feels like a good puzzle worth the money :)

I had a look at the solution for step 1 too, and even knowing what I had to do after watching the solution, it was really hard to make it happen...
Next steps are much more fun and you make quickly interesting discoveries

Then it was not the first step I found :) I can easily repeat it but it doesn't make a big difference. Maybe the first step is the big thing with the T12 and what Rainer tries to hide for us as good as possible.
