Sorry about the warning post, but forewarned is forearmed. I have a couple of sets of these magnets myself and they are fun to play with.

I've seen those wooden puzzles in the local supermarket too. I didn't check the price but I doubt it was $1.

Found some interesting options. Including the recommendation from RevoRabbit on DollarTree: http://www.dollartree.com/toys-games-ac ... hod=search Not sure if they also have it available in my local store, but I may give it a try so I can get an assortment of puzzles.

For the babies, I am tempted to pick up this one: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80021008/

And no, not going to give magnets to a baby. However, I have a large set of a variety of different magnets. Including a 4" Neodymium magnet that is damned near impossible to pull other magnets off of :|
