Well obviously he at least glances at these forums, Hi Wil! I don't have one yet but I'm on the waiting list.

Congrats on your 102 + page thread.

These guys didn't mean anything by it, I'm sure. They're good puzzlers.

Having now just done it the proper way I can see why Wil got annoyed, but I find the cheat method marginally more elegant.

I have to agree with Chris

I too used the unintentional cheat way but have since solved it the way intended and all is good again with Wil :)

Yep me too.

It was unintentionally solved incorrectly but certainly it does not detract from the revisiting and solving of the puzzle in the correct way.

This is a top class puzzle.

Should I not be reading any of the recent emails if I am still waiting on my box? Seems Wil has sent several emails to all of us.

Reading this forum topic or mails you receive from Wil does not harm.
Be sure to read specific instructions from Wil even better! And then stick to them!

I also performed this 'illegal move' on the prototype, and I also thought it was a very elegant step. But Wil told me right away to undo that move and find a different way (at that time it was not declared illegal yet, that is what testing is for!)
Physically preventing this unintended move would require the box to be even larger, which was not acceptable. Therefore Wil added the specific instruction about external tools. He sure did not expect three early birds to brutally misread/violate/ignore the explicit instructions...

I am still waiting for my box. Should arrive end this week, which is good I guess, for what has taken place.

Now that I have been reminded by Wil's recent emails on his explicit instructions of what NOT TO DO and what you three guys unintentionally did, well...I will ensure that I put myself on the right path when trying to solve the Angel Box.
