Re: Wil Strijbos!!!
Received my washer cylinder today. Has quite a few markings on it that I would not expect from $100+ puzzle.

Re: Wil Strijbos!!!
yeah all my aluminium puzzles from will arrived with many many marks on them but with a good polish the majority of them dissappeared, but im not too fussed on them arriving marked as lets face it we buy them for the puzzle not the asthetics and bringing aluminium up to a mirror shine is rather time consuming and would result in the puzzles getting very expensive!03SVTCobra wrote:Received my washer cylinder today. Re: Wil Strijbos!!!
My cross came and was perfect. I'm not expecting them to be polished but the Nicks in the cylinder are what I'm not happy about. Other than that my cylinder was pretty good. The washer cylinder has several marks on the lid. Once I get them open I may polish them.

Re: Wil Strijbos!!!
Mine had a very few, very minor blemishes on it ..... and after all the rough treatment I gave it it now has a LOT more. It is aluminium after all.....
I can see for a collector it might be a bit of a let down...but only if they expect Revomaze quality for a puzzle.
I have now given mine to my 8 year old daughter and my 10 year old son ....
Methinks they will come back with many more dents after those two finish with it.
I think Wil went overboard to protect it when packing ... My one came in a 8 inch square box with enough foam in it to keep a wombat afloat.
RE: Aluminium in general.
The thing about aluminium is that aluminium on aluminium does not "wear" too well.
You will find things will bind if you are not careful.
My recommendation is to use a product called INOX to lubricate it once you get it open.
Locksmiths use that as it is better than WD40 etc as it repels water, does not dry out, and does not attract dust.
Another 2 cents

Not silly difficult but testing. The perfect balance of a very good puzzle.

I fiddled with it for a bit when i got it, now it's in non-initial status ... so i gotta figure how to move it backward or move it forward.Alimorris wrote:The Cross really is a great puzzle!!cdr2289 wrote:just solved the washer cylinder and the bolt over the weekend. SEMI-KINDA-SORT OF-NOT REALLY HINT/SPOILER ABOUT WASHER-CYLINDER BELOW
I saw the hints and pics that Wil sent of the washer cylinder. Hope that when Chris says NO FORCE it means more than when Wil says no force required...
