Home-built Puzzles

Post by maztec »

Anyone here make their own puzzles? Or buy puzzles made by individuals and sold on things like Shapeways?

I have made a few in the past - mostly puzzle boxes - but haven't done anything recently.

And have you dealt with other people's home made puzzles? What is your experience with them? Does anything really stick out to you, especially ones that any of us could buy off of something like Shapeways?

Well you can seem my efforts on my blog ...

I have another couple of ideas that I'm working on, but time to create, design and test is limited as things are rather busy right now.

I have a shelf full of home made twisty puzzles, some made by me and some by others. I'll try to get a picture of it up here soon.

I made these:

ImageDice Soma Cubes by Puzzleparadox, on Flickr

Soma cubes made from dice. One is plain black with over 200 assemblies and the other is patterned with (I think) only one assembly.

Not too extravagant, but about right for my craftsmanship skills. :D

Here is my self of home made twisty puzzles. Some were made by me, many by others. Only 2 are 3D printed, the rest are either cast or made using cut/glue/epoxy techniques with plastic sheeting and parts from other puzzles.

I probably should have put this thread: http://revomaze.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic. ... 843#p21843 in here instead, but oh well. I like it over there. :p And I'm cross-posting, in case someone has some input that doesn't read the OT forum.
