Unfortunately I had the same problem. Luckily I solved it with WD40. Now I have put a bit of grease in the grooves and no more problems. Aluminum is just not ideal for this application. I worked a lot with 7075 and encountered the same problem.

The problem with Wil's blue cylinder is that it has been machined too well. The flat surfaces have been machined far smoother than the original versions of AlCyl. This means if you punch it too tight then the contacting surface area is significantly greater... and it binds shut.

FOR ANY ONE WITH THAT PROBLEM! Strapped Pipe wrenches can get you started again without a scratch. Thats what i did with mine. And if you need me to i can explain directions to get you started!!!! (I had to email Wil about directions but sometimes he's slow-ish to respond) These were about $5 USD on sale at Home Depot. And yes I bought two of them.
