How is Coil?
I didn't read a single review of it yet.
Please tell us what you think about it.

I like it quite a bit. They have it as a level 3 but I think it is closer to a 4 or 5 but maybe I just had more trouble with it than I should have. It consists of 2 pieces which are almost identical connected together in a way in which the solution seems at first obvious. At first is appears that they should just slide apart but they don't. Therefor this puzzle is somewhat deceptive and you have to twist the pieces in some unique ways to get them apart.

Just in case anyone was still curious, Brian put up his review of the Cast Coil just recently:

Sounds interesting. :)

Looks a bit like the "Simple Solid Ring Maze" from last year's IPP Design Competition... ?

I think it's a little more than just a bit!

I can't find the designer for Cast Box, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't Yuta Akira

My family got me the cast box for Christmas. It's a nicely finished puzzle typical of most of the Hanayama puzzles.

It's not one of their more difficult puzzles such as the vortex or quartet. It is similar to duet in concept and type of manipulations needed to solve it but is simpler than duet. That said I prefer the box over duet due to its simplicity and how it feels in my hands.

Of course I brought it to work and let some of the staff play with it. No one even came close to solving it. Even when I showed them how to do it they couldn't solve it since, to them, all the possible moves looked the same. This serves as a little reminder that what we feel are trivial puzzles are virtually impossible for most people.
