That extra pin is

hidden inside the box or inside one of the parts. Unfortunately I don't recall where exactly, but I do know you have to open the box first, before you can actually get it (which I found a bit strange, because if you're unable to solve because of a lost pin, you'll not be able to get that 2nd pin).

Yes Wil is still working on new puzzles. The past few years with travel restrictions has slowed down his progress on completing but he is always up to something ;)
