I got the version from Livewire as part of their 37 puzzle set and despite it being rated as level 10, I actually had it open in about 15 minutes. It occured more by luck than understanding but even so I was able to repeat it many times before I bothered to look at the mechanism with it left open!

I have to say that it looks ok but I don't really rate it as a puzzle. I don't think I would buy it again.

There is currently a copy of Charles O. Perry's Zen puzzle on eBay. The start price isn't bad at all, but I'd try and get it for less than the buy it now price.

The Dick Schloss / Fat Lock / Void Lock is now only $20 at Puzzle Master.

It's one of my absolute favourite puzzles working on the binary style system, hence why it has a 250 move solution (500 if you count closing as well).

Just missed out on Perry's Zen by $2.50 on ebay because the auction finished at 01:15 UK time and I wasn't prepared to stay up waiting for it to end!

Was it one of you lot that won it?

I will have to keep an eye out for another in the future and possibly one of his chess sets.
