Looks like half the things I bid on are going to run an extra day. Yay! Er...

Some insane prices there.

You'd need to contact Nick to be a seller. I believe all items are sent to Nick directly the he sorts categorises and photographs everything.

But I could be wrong.

And I've one one of the items I was bidding on and have 3 more still to finish.

You're not wrong. Nick takes all the photos and sorts out the descriptions/estimates etc.

I won one puzzle as well. And now I'm done for this phase.

My first puzzle auction! I won one too :D . I am happy with what I won, as I have not been able to find this puzzle anywhere else for sale. While I thought the prices were very high, that is probably because I am only working part time at the moment whilst I have other commitments. Next year however.....I might be able to bid competitively  (but only on discontinued..not what can be bought easily in shops..I don't get why people pay MORE at auction for them????)
As I am still focused on getting a lathe/mill (you guys twisted my arm..I can't wait to make puzzles!) I only bid on a small item...hexaspiration...I have looked online for it and can't find it anywhere...please don't tell me I can buy this cheaper elsewhere :(

P.S. Does anyone here have experience with (mini) metal lathes/mills?

There's some good news and bad news for you. It's an IPP exchange puzzle, so no it cannot be bought anywhere other than auction. However (as was discussed at the Puzzle Museum yesterday) due to a particular internal component that has likely degraded, there is a better than good chance that they are all unsolvable.

Oh.
Is it fixable? Maybe I can force it apart and see if it can be mended/re cast....

Is the 'puzzle museum' that you speak of an online forum, or a physical location?

Probably not, hence the description that it failed to be opened in testing.

Looks like I won the cheaper of the Dona Dona's. Hence my earlier comment that split auctions are not a perfect system. Whoever bid $100 should have bid on and taken the one I got for $30 less than the other lot.

Look for the Proxxon brand miniature machines. I recently bought their MF70 router, and am saving up for a mini table saw. That (and the other high bids) is why I did not join the Baxter auctions this time (ok, back on topic already;-)

Hmm. It doesn't actually say that it failed to open, it says "Mechanism not successfully tested". which I thought meant that it had not been opened yet, not that it was likely to be broken.
Well now I'm not sure whether to keep it as a collection piece, or attempt to force it open and fix it. Does anyone know where I can get information on the design of this puzzle?

Thanks, a-maze-ing, I'll have a look :)
