The Conundrum III by GarE Maxton

Post by Tryitloveit »

I was going through youtube when I came along a puzzle by this man.

There are several on his website and iwas wondering if anybody has ever seen much less held one of these things. Sit down before you read this or you might faint when you see the price.

I have (carefully) tried some of GarE's puzzles, but I am yet to buy one. However it is worth mentioning that the prices do accurately reflect the quality of the materials and workmanship. However my budget doesn't quite go that far sadly.

I've got a few of his designs... They were the only puzzles I have paid in installments, and were NOT typical purchases...

I have the MiniConundrum X2 and the MicroConundrum X3
the nicest things about these is they start as simpler puzzles, which GarE expands to make even more complicated designs...

Plus they've appreciated in value a lot since I purchased them...

I wonder if he would start making a few from aluminum..or some other cheaper colourable metal.

I doubt it - his puzzles are meant to be viewed first as art, puzzles as second I think - and rightfully so. He doesn't use anything like burrtools to help him create those things.

My favorite thing to show people is the link to the Intimidator and the single shot pistol is turns into. That's just.. awesome.

Although if you are after a slightly more affordable puzzle from GarE, check out the Symmetry III. It's not as pretty to look at but it is still a great piece of engineering!
