I've had the opposite experience with the mazes. After a few hours of play, the joints in my fingers and knuckles start to hurt. I should also note that I blatantly ignore advice to take regular breaks.

The pin can fall in if the draw bar is not present. The core should slide out freely if this is the case.

I hope you disclosed that it is not a standalone puzzle, and requires the user to solve an obscure algorithm to get an opening combination.

Not sure where it would be faulty unless your friend broke something in which case the puzzle would be near inoperable. These things are solved in house before they're shipped (or the used to be when Chris had extra help. Not sure if this is still the case). To my knowledge, there are only two point...
