I prefer the color silver before gold so I would. =) But just for arguments sake, why nickel instead of gold? // M Gold is a softer metal than nickel, so I would expect the appearance of the core would be better preserved by nickel plating, especially if you haven't opened these puzzles before. According to me it is easy, but it is really funny to see others trying to do it.
It's cheap and they are hard to find. I have only seen one and that is the one my great great grandfather made.
