Actually it's a Professor Ghost Cube. So a standard Ghost Cube design but made from a 4x4x4 instead of a 3x3x3. It looks terrifying!
I have one of those - made for me by one of the Twisty puzzle forum members!

It is truly horrendous! Mainly because it is so difficult to recognise the parities and then keeping track of what you're doing to resolve them.
TheWaddler wrote:thought it looked a bit different, but oh hell!!!! is he selling those yet or is that just a prototype??

i may have to get a Ghost Cube when i get paid next, provided they're still available!!
They're usually made to order at about $150 each. Not bad for the amount of work required!

yeah i bet the professor is ridiculous!!! the standard looks hard enough. i imagine its like the Rubik's Mirror Blocks (which i love!!).

yeah the price isn't too bad, considering the amount i've spent on revomazes and such like, hence why i literally can't afford to get one until after my next payday   :?

I don't know if you saw this Mini Ghost Cube that was made for me by another forum member on the TP.com forums:

I wouldn't be able to solve it to save my life, but I absolutely love the design of it. It's great trying to explain to people that really its only a normal 3x3x3 cube in disguise.

You can also now buy a Shapeways printed Ghost Cube for the pretty hefty price of 160 EUR: HERE
Personally I'd go the same route as me and Kevin and find an enthusiastic puzzle modder to make one for you. Or make it yourself. ;)

Hmmm! In general twisties can be cheaper! But don't expect to save a whole lot of money by getting into them!
Mass produced ones tend to go from $20-90 depending on size and complexity (the Petaminx is $230!!)
Shapeways puzzles tend to be $150-290 for a decent puzzle.
Handmade mods can be much more expensive - they start at $100 and go up to $800 for an Octaphobic (8x8 tetrahedral cube mod).

The Dayan Gems that I reviewed on my blog are $42 each so straight away you are up to $168:
http://www.puzzlemad.co.uk/2012/11/its-little-gem.html

I started easy and thought it was great because you spend very little and have something that lasts ages and is repeatable many many times (plus friends and family can actually relate to them). Then it escalates as you want more and more complex puzzles and then start on mods etc.

I hate to think what they have cost me (I could use my database to find out - but don't want to! )
I have 77 Twisties in my collection so far with plans for many more - there are 4 handmade mods there and another 4 on order. Plus I have a Shapeways one in the offing too!!
So... They don't work out "Much Cheaper"!

No! I'm afraid not! The Mirror blocks is a piece of P*** compared to a Ghost cube!
Let me just point out that 2 of the axes on the Ghost cube don't even reveal themselves until the cube is rotated out of cube shape! It's not horrendous but it can be quite hard the first time or two. Now the 4x4 version!! That IS horrendous!!
